John Benjamin has been in the residential construction industry for 50 years. With a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, he founded Benjamin Construction in 1991. His work has been featured in Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, Architectural Record, Architecture and Urbanism, Cape Cod Life and Times, and The Boston Globe. He has had a lifelong fascination with construction and engineering and continues to enjoy the collaborative process required for the successful execution of challenging residential construction projects. He works at Benjamin Construction as a consultant focusing on solving unusual problems.
Of particular interest to John is the industrial revolution and the machinery and engineering projects developed during that period. Railroads have always had a romantic attraction, beginning with the nightly hum of diesels climbing along the Deerfield River in Western Massachusetts, to hopping freights through the Berkshires and the Hoosac Tunnel.
John enjoys contemporary art, reading, travel, dining with friends, spending time with his family, and mowing the “back forty” with his 1941 Farmall A.
